Summer is Here!

Summer is Here!

Summer is here!I grew up in Alaska, and I’m going for vacation this year to see my family. I was thrilled when my Mom told me that it was 91 degrees in Fairbanks this week.

It reminded me of all the fun I had in the summertime. We welcomed summer. After suffering through the long cold winter, it was really nice to be able to wear short sleeves. If you have ever been in minus 35 degree weather, you know what I mean. I can clearly remember the snow melting, and those ‘balmy’ days in May when we ran around in our t shirts and enjoyed the sun. It was 40 degrees above and it was hot out!

Every year on June 21st, the semi pro baseball team in town would play a game at midnight, with no artificial light, only the light from the sun. The sun was still up and visible in the sky. One of the nicknames for Alaska is ‘the land of the midnight sun’.

So, as you can tell, I’m having a hard time concentrating on work. Somebody needs to refinance or buy a house to keep me busy. If you know of anyone, please send them my way.

Let’s enjoy the summer.
